After Kwa-Kabuga

Many poor women sell goods on the street. This is an illegal practice and they face arrest and a spell in what amounts to a re-education camp (kwa-kabuga). Having lost their street market job, sex work is sometimes the only option when they return to the city.
These photos were shot for the Kigali print and online Accelerator Magazine.
The shots were posed with the gracious cooperation of a woman who has been through the kwa-kabuga and now works the street.
